If you receive a call from anybody claiming to be from the IRS or the Treasury Department, EVEN IF THE CALLER ID SAYS IT'S THE IRS, HANG UP!
Report the call to the TIGTA (U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration) at 800-366-4484 or
Ocean County Department of Consumer Affairs at 732-929-2105.
If you believe you may owe taxes, call the IRS at 800-829-1040.
Medicare/Medicaid will NOT CALL YOU to verify your ID# which is your Social Security #.
DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE.
